Club Outreach to RV Community |

On September 12, Airstream Club International Region 12 members participated in the Introduction to Ham Radio workshop presented by James Aspinwall, NO1PC, as well as Sacramento Valley President and ARRL Sacramento Valley Section Affiliated Club Coordinator James Goldstene, AE6JG, at their rally in South Lake Tahoe, California.
James gave a live demonstration of HF communications on 40-meter SSB QSOs with Jim Zheng, W6JCZ, at Ham Radio Outlet in Sacramento, Sacramento ARES EC Jay Ballinger, N6SAC, ARRL Sac Valley SM, Carol Milazzo, KP4MD, in Citrus Heights, and others.
Participants really enjoyed the workshop and commented on how well organized and informative the presentation was.

On September 5, James Goldstene, AE6JG, presented An Introduction to Amateur Radio to about 15 members of three Airstream Club Internationals at their joint rally at the McCloud RV Park near Mt. Shasta, California. "We used a slingshot to get an EFHW Chameleon Antenna up in the air and [reached] Mexico and Haiti."

HARC Promotes Amateur Radio at Northeast Philadelphia History Fair |

You might be wondering what ham radio has in common with a history fair. The Holmesburg Amateur Radio Club (HARC) attended the Northeast Philadelphia History Fair as a means to promote city’s history via the annual 13 Colonies Special Event in July.
The fair consisted of about 30 local history groups representing Lenape Indians, Rochambeau’s march down the King’s Highway, the Grand Army of the Republic, several genealogical societies, Camp William Penn, various historic buildings, and HARC.
We were approached by the organizers and asked if we would like to participate. Besides having our presentation table, they thought it would be interesting if we could also set up a demonstration station.

Weather was not our friend that day, with high winds and temperatures in the low 50s, but with the help of POTA operator Andrew Chen, W3AWC, we were still able to set up a station outside the main entrance to the event so everyone could see us as they walked in.
With the assistance of Tony Pace, WO3I, and Carl Gerhart, N3ZZK, Andrew made several HF contacts running 10 W with his Xiegu G90 transceiver and a Hamstick antenna.
Visitors were then directed inside to see our display, which had plenty of information.
Staffing the inside table were Rich Shivers, K3UJ; Bob Josuweit, WA3PZO, and Dave Hogan, KB3AKK.

Club Grant Program Update |

The ARRL Foundation Club Grant Program is currently reviewing all 110 applications received from clubs across the country.
These represent projects large and small and are evaluated for their completeness and transformative value to the amateur radio community.
Reviews will continue through the last of October, with final decisions and announcements coming in November.
The Club Grant Program is made possible through the support of ARDC and the ARRL Foundation.
Projects typically range from station constructions or upgrades to the creation of educational programs.
Additional information will be made available as reviews conclude.

If your club completes a project, supports an event, does an EmComm activation, or activates a park, we want to hear about it.
