The Northwest Amateur Radio Society was established in 1985 and serves the suburban FM 1960 area in Northwest Houston including Klein, Tomball, Spring, Woodlands and Cypress. NARS is a Non-Profit Corporation classified by IRS as 501(c)(3).
NARS is active in the community and public service events including Houston Marathon, Texas MS 150 and Wings Over Houston Airshow. Club members participate in the ARRL Field Day and we just had our first Winter Field Day in 2025. In addition to our general meeting, we have a weekly Saturday morning breakfast, Monday lunch at Aviators Grill at Hooks Airport and Wednesday lunch at various restaurants in the area. We hold in-person computer based ARRL Amateur Radio License Exam sessions at the meeting location each month on Saturday at 8:30am.
