Vertical Antenna Feed | K9ZUT | on 16/7/16 |
I recommend feeding all vertical antennas with 450 Ohm ladder line because it eliminates the need for radials. I am currently using a MFJ-901B antenna tuner and MFJ-931 artificial ground. Radiation angle Is very low evidenced by DX worked. John Brocker, K9ZUT |

The loop was about 2' from the bed spring which affected the feed point impedance. | ||

Worked PJ2/W3HNK on 20 Meters last night! His QTH is Isle of Carousal in the UK. (Stealth downspout bottom fed with 450 Ohm ladder line) continues to out perform with a low angle of radiation. The downspout is 36' in height and the tuner is a MFJ-901b; the ground is a MFJ-931 artificial ground with a long and short counterpoise rolled up in the corner. The radio is a Yaesu FT 950 running 100W. Signal reports were "contest 59's". |

6 Meter Full Wave Horizontal Loop Antenna | K9ZUT | on 6/7/16 |
The Z is supposed to be 100 Ohms; with a 1/4 wave 72 Ohm matching transformer, 50 Ohms. But, VSWR is about 3:1 implying that Z is much higher or much lower. Can anyone please explain what is actually happening? |

First contact was VE7SO on 20 meters, British Columbia with a "contest 5X9" He was 5X5. Also worked a W2 in New Hamoshire on 40 meters. Believe radiation angle to be very low. John Brocker, K9ZUT |
