This week, Surfin’ reveals the contents of a folder filled with stuff.

George Carlin once opined, “A house is just a place to keep your stuff while you go out and get more stuff.”

I have a folder on my computer’s hard disk where I put my stuff. The folder’s name is not “house,” but it serves the same purpose that Mr Carlin suggested. In fact, “suggestions” is the name of the folder and last time I looked, there were 638 files in that folder.

Those files represent stuff for this column that I collected while exploring the Internet, as well as stuff that readers have sent me telling me where to go to find another story for Surfin’.

Some of the stuff results in full-blown columns; however, some of the stuff does not merit full column treatment. Those I save with the intention of bundling them up and using them all in one column. You guessed it: this is that column.

• The online HF propagation prediction service, VOACAP Online, now uses Google Maps for coordinate entry. This makes the service more usable and accessible even for a casual user.
• Tom Medlin, W5KUB, takes his helmet cam on a tour of MFJ Enterprises on November 16.
• Mac Ham Radio has a totally new look.
• See how cartoonist Ed Piskor designed a QSL card from start to finish for the ham radio station at the 2010 conference of the Hackers on Planet Earth.
• For some chuckles, check out the Digital Wonder Do-It-All S-Meter (with optional LID filter), brought to you by the Idaho Potato Contest Group.
• Finally, an update: The call sign of rocker and former ham Gene Pitney is still unknown!
