The Catawba Valley Amateur Radio Society (CVARS) was formed in 2019 to have a ham radio club for amateur radio operators throughout the Catawba Valley & surrounding areas. Our callsign is W4CVR. The purpose of our club promote the hobby of Amateur Radio and good fellowship among operators, building community relations, and assisting with emergency communications as-needed.
We host 2 Nets every Thursday evening. The second one is right after our DMR Net @ 7:30pm Thursdays on the WA4PXV repeater in Hickory, frequency is 146.850 MHz (-.600 offset and no tone) also linked with KC4IRA in Maiden, frequency 444.075 MHz with a 100 Hz tone.
